One-Day Academic Course
A one-day introduction into the history of tea, the vocabulary of the subject and related items including antique and vintage crockery and tea-ware. The course material links English afternoon tea to other subjects such as literature, art and social history, illustrating the importance and social significance of tea at all levels of society. The changing status of tea in the 21st century will also be discussed. Reference material will be presented throughout the day to enhance all subject areas covered. This course does not include any cooking.Attendance hours 10am until 5pm.Course fee: £110 per person which includes:light lunch and detailed programme notes with bibliography.Tea and cake will be served in the afternoon.Maximum 2 persons per session.
